The project team of “Development of Innovation Centers in 13 Regional Directorates” actively participated in the 14th Panhellenic Conference with International Participation “ICT in Education”, organized by the Hellenic Association of ICT in Education (ETPE).

During the Round Table Discussion titled
“The Contribution of CTI in the Modern Era of Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Transformation of the Country,”
Dimitrios Serpanos, Michail Paraskevas, Zacharoula Smyrnaiou, Kalomoira Marouga, and Eirini Pittara presented the strategic initiatives of the Computer Technology Institute and Press “Diophantus” (CTI) and the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports.

Their discussion highlighted national efforts to enhance digital skills, harness the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and develop sustainable learning ecosystems. Special emphasis was placed on the role of the Innovation Centers as dynamic spaces for experimentation and creativity, integrating cutting-edge technologies—such as AI, Robotics, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR)—into the heart of the educational process.

Within the scientific program of the conference, the project team presented two research papers:

Aristeidis Vangelatos, Maria Giannisi, Dimitris Konstantakos, Zacharoula Smyrnaiou
“Large Language Models: Can Their Generative Form Foster Mathematical Thinking? A Study with Secondary School Students.”
This original research explores the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) as pedagogical tools for cultivating mathematical reasoning and encouraging critical engagement in learning.

Maria Fountana, Zacharoula Smyrnaiou, Ioannis Kostikas
“From Conception to Implementation: Innovation in the Innovation Centers Is Not Designed Alone” (Poster Presentation).
The presentation outlined the methodology and design phases of the educational scenarios developed within the Innovation Centers, emphasizing collaborative innovation and pedagogical co-creation.

Through its active participation, the project demonstrated the evolving contribution of the Innovation Centers to educational innovation, digital transformation, and the meaningful integration of emerging technologies into teaching and learning.
