Open Design for a Sustainable Public Space
The 7th Pan-Hellenic Open Technologies in Education Competition is being held this year to enhance the skills of students and teachers and to encourage them to become creators of innovative solutions using open technologies and open design.
This year, the competition focuses on the question of how we can create an immediate and radical public space, a space that we share and yet which can allow us to have very private moments, a space of safety and meeting. Open Design includes in its building blocks participation, innovation and experimentation and in this context we would like to ask participants to think about public space beyond the obvious and seek solutions to challenges that involve our own bodies and the collective body that articulates our societies, cities and culture.
The aim of the competition is to encourage students to design innovative solutions that will improve people’s daily lives.
In particular, students are invited to:
Redefine public space: Focusing on the toilet, create functional, aesthetically pleasing and sustainable spaces.
Design robots that are useful and fun: create emotional bonds between humans and machines.
